Case Study

Summary of the first three months with MPBS

Background

Large practice considering outsourcing their entire coding and billing department, but first wanted to "try and test" an outside biller. If all goes well, gradually eliminate 2-4 positions and the problems associated with managing and training staff, HR, turnover, cost, etc.

Pain Point

The practice owner felt the staff was writing too much off and leaving revenue "on the floor" instead of trying to recover it.

Solution

A three month trial with MacPractice Business Services. The new client on-boarded June, 2018.

Production

REVENUE INCREASED BY 32%

Write-Offs

CONTRACTUAL WRITE-OFFS DECREASED BY 10%

Gross Receipts

GROSS RECEIPTS INCREASED 88%

Insurance Receipts

INSURANCE RECEIPTS INCREASED 98%

Results

MacPractice Business Services has substantially increased revenue and decreased write-offs during the first 3 months of the contract. Uncollectible insurance claims need to be written off or the claims need to be closed if they have a zero balance.

Although there were some May 2018 ERAs posted by client’s staff in June, MPBS had to repost many of them due to posting errors. There have also been significant posting errors by staff that were corrected by MPBS for claims closed prior to the contract date.

In summary, MPBS has increased the financial health of the practice and the long-term outlook is great.

Note: results vary from client to client, your results could be different. Your results could be better!

Time period was June 2018 through August 2018. Reports ran on 9/4/18.

The Billing Service has been outstanding in rapidly addressing my needs, spending time with me to help explain the situation and provided sound advice for attacking the errors and billing omissions. Marilyn personally went way beyond the call of duty to help me during her off hours and her team worked rapidly to help clean up my system. All of the help desk professionals that I have spoken directly with have been friendly, extremely knowledgeable and willing to spend however much time I needed to resolve and understand an issue. The MacPractice Business Service team have been invaluable in supporting me and my medical office in recovering thousands of dollars in unsubmitted and improperly submitted insurance claims.

MacPractice Business Services has proven to be a partner that is not only providing faster and easier payments from our insurance carriers, they are helping our practice learn how to incorporate more efficient methods of getting things done. We have been able to postpone and perhaps eliminate the hiring and training of additional team members to our prosperity team. Our staff is no longer spending the bulk of their time posting, they are taking on much higher value tasks that make my job easier and the practice run better. I don’t see any downside for Sheperd Integrative Dermatology. I wish we had brought MacPractice Business Services on board sooner. This is a major win for our practice.
